This independent investment management firm, headquartered in London, is looking to recruit a Legal Executive/Paralegal to join their legal team. With a diverse global client base of corporations, public and private pension plans, endowments, foundations and individuals they invest in both equity and fixed income asset classes across multiple jurisdictions.
They are looking for someone who has understanding of asset management and investment products, that can combine their intellect, problem-solving, communication and project management skills in this alternative career path to qualifying as a lawyer.
Complementing the lawyers on the legal team, this role supports and facilitates the firm’s investment management business along with two other Legal Executives.
You would have exposure to all aspects of the business - constant learning and a varied workload that will include dealing with the following:
- client facing matters - contracts, guidelines, fees, relationships for prospects and clients globally
- brokerage and trading - instruments, markets, terms for investing and trading globally
- funds / pooled vehicle – selection, set-up, maintenance, oversight for 40+ fund in multiple jurisdictions
- regulatory & compliance – research changes and collaborate with the firm’s compliance team on implementation
- vendors – contracts
- litigation – related to investments
- corporate secretarial
Essential skills include:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience with asset management firm or financial services firm, or with a law firm dealing with asset management or financial services
- A 2i degree from a top university
- GDL or LPC may be useful, but is not a prerequisite
- Commercial and practical mindset
- Ability to evaluate and summarise efficiently
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels
