We are seeking to recruit aPractice Operations Manager to join the MAR Kilshaw Team. The successful applicant will provide support and assistance to the directors, with all aspects of managing the operations of the practice.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You must have good attention to detail, must be IT literate, have excellent problem-solving skills, have good time and people management, must be able to achieve targets with limited supervision, have the ability to work as part of a team and individually, must be able to converse with clients, have knowledge of accounting software packages, have strong double entry bookkeeping knowledge, have a full understanding of FRS102, FRS102 1a, FRS105, have knowledge of tax adjusting entries. Audit and knowledge of Solicitors Accounting Rules is advantageous.
You must have an excellent telephone manner, be able to prioritise workload and deadlines, work under pressure, must be flexible and able to adopt to new working practices.
Requirements:
-ACCA/ACA with at least 4 years post qualification experience.
-Experience of working in practice.
-Supervisory experience or an ability to be able to oversee a small team is essential.
-Experience of supporting a diverse range of clients (professional services, service sector, construction, manufacturing, retail, agriculture).
-Experience of working with Xero and TaxCalc would be preferred, training can be provided.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Assisting with workflow management and job allocation for themselves and the team.
-Support members of the team and assist with their development.
- Oversea and manage team members operational tasks for all services provided by the practice i.e. accounts, corporation tax, personal tax, payroll, CIS, VAT, bookkeeping and statutory.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with the relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare and review full balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and review fixed asset register on an annual basis as part of the accounts production process.
- Produce and review accounting schedules to support balances and transactions included in the financial statements.
- Adhere to proper accounting standards.
- Contact clients to address any queries on the accounts. Most queries, if not all should be dealt with prior to the meeting with the clients.
- Effectively manage the team to ensure jobs are completed in line with fee expectations.
- Ensure all client deadlines are met.
- Liaise with the directors on a weekly basis to provide updates on deadlines, jobs in progress and other matters.
- Develop and maintain client relations.
- Prepare and review draft tax computations to ensure accuracy of tax provision in the accounts. Determine deferred tax when applicable.
- Attend accountancy courses to keep knowledge up to date.
- Dealing with HMRC queries and telephone calls.
- Assisting the directors on other tasks as and when required from time to time.
