The Opportunity
A vacancy has arisen in Group Finance for an experienced Group Finance Assistant. Based in Newcastle, the Group Finance Assistant shares responsibility for;
- Monthly inter-company reconciliation process, including this for the Group’s forecasting and budgeting processes
- Preparation of monthly insurance schedules
- Involvement in the wind down of one of the Group’s legacy rail entities
- Involvement in the Group’s year end Annual Report process
- Preparation of operating company statutory accounts templates and first review of completed versions of these
- Ad-hoc assistance to the Group Finance team as required
- Involvement in ad-hoc Group Finance projects, including documentation of processes and controls in the Group’s new system, improving and streamlining processes, and gathering and processing of ESG data
What we are looking for?
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices
- Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and statutory accounts.
- Ability to work with multiple entities to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation for actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software, including the ability to document and optimise financial processes within these systems.
- Understanding of insurance schedules, reconciliations, and intercompany recharges.
- Prior experience working within a Group Finance function, supporting multiple operating companies.
- Ability to contribute to group-wide financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and streamline processes.
- Ability to support the Group Finance team in preparing complex financial reports and analyses.

Work Location: At The Go-Ahead Group we work 4 days a week in the office and 1 day from home.
