I am working with a leading lighting manufacturer looking for a Lighting Consultant to join the team and build up the Southeast & East Anglia region.
This role will be varied, with 80% of the time spent developing relationships with designers for projects such as hospitals, schools, etc., to ensure the company’s lighting products are specified. The remaining 20% will focus on developing the UK medical market.

Job Description:
- Oversee, define, and manage the medical sales channel across the UK.
- Maintain existing relationships to increase the company’s sales through specification via competitive tenders.
- Develop and implement new relationships to drive the company’s sales through specification via competitive tenders.
- Identify and implement initiatives to grow the company’s sales through specification.
- Act as the sector expert for the business, identifying the most effective routes to market.
- Account and project manage large, multi-site rollouts from inception to completion (cradle to grave), leading up to order placement.
- Complete and submit tender responses as required.
- Understand the business's products or services in the sector and advise others accordingly.
- Liaise with Design & Development when necessary to provide briefs for new product ranges or special designs.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to create initiatives that support your objectives.
- Engage in direct marketing, including cold calls and emails, to create meetings.
- Suggest improvements to business processes and the company’s approach to the sectors.
- Entertain and host customers at Philip Payne.
- Conduct seminars and CPDs (Continuing Professional Development) at Philip Payne and externally.
Lighting Consultant
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience within the lighting industry or in selling to high-end specification customers such as architects and designers.
- Experience selling through specification via competitive tenders, managing the process from start to finish.
- Proven success in leading large tenders.
- Strong relationship-building skills at all levels.
- Excellent business development skills, including lead generation and cold calling to grow sales.
- Ability to utilize full life costing elements to differentiate our approach.
- Capability to provide appropriate market feedback, including insights on competitors, commercial trends, technology developments, and personnel movements.
