Reporting directly to the Head of Credit, and working closely with the Head of Assets, this is a key role at the commercial centre of the bank and critical to the feasibility, execution, and oversight of the credit & asset strategy for a multi-asset class loan portfolio.
The role will be central to the build-out of a commercially viable, risk managed, and multi-faceted bank balance sheet. The credit analyst will be using internal and external credit related data, alongside 3rd party partner data and apply sophisticated data analysis techniques to help determine asset value, risk-based pricing and the overall credit strategy.
The Credit Portfolio Analyst will support the 1st line assessment of the viability, credit quality, and credit acceptance procedures of our lending partners. The analyst will also be supporting ongoing monitoring of our lending partners and the credit risk of the bank’s portfolio.
The role will be seen as the go-to area to support credit analytical data requirements across the Bank, for example supporting risk adjusted return analysis by lender partners & asset classes plus feed into stress & scenario analysis.
Role Accountabilities:
- Conducting client commercial feasibility analysis of potential portfolio acquisitions and forward flow contracts, including asset creditworthiness and unit economic in line with the Bank’s criteria and targeted returns
- Supporting in the monitoring of individual assets and portfolios at on-boarding against KRIs (namely credit score, affordability and debt to income ratios);
- Supporting in the monitoring credit risk on an ongoing basis through the review of related MI, credit dashboards, watch lists and metrics, enabling the identification and remediation of risk issues and breaches of limits.
- Provide commercial and credit insights based upon internal and external data at a lender, asset class & portfolio level. Supporting credit risk stress testing as part of the Bank’s planning processes.
- Be part of the Bank’s team in undertaking asset quality reviews on specific lender portfolios.
- Using SilverRock credit MI insight to assess, inform and feedback on lender partners collection strategies.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have commercial credit risk and/or financial analytical experience based upon demonstrable data & analytical expertise coupled with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment. The candidate will be able to act clearly and decisively, particularly under pressure. SilverRock will build its loan portfolio at pace and the Credit Manager will play a significant role in the portfolio oversight of credit risk across all asset classes and ensuring commercial growth is sustainably balanced with the Bank’s credit risk appetite and policies. Strong communication and engagement with lending partners and with the Bank’s three lines of defence will be required with a respectful and professional interaction.
The skills and experience required are;
- Experience in Credit Risk and / or Financial Commercial Analytics, Asset Originations and Evaluations for mortgage lending and must possess sound market and industry knowledge.
- Experience in SME lending (unsecured and secured) and unsecured consumer lending is also desirable
- Ability to see bigger picture on overall strategy for the evolution of commercial and credit risk performance
- Good planning and organizational skills: the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and coordinate key projects with a variety of stakeholders
- Communication skills: good written and verbal communication skills to be able to work effectively with others, with an ability to communicate and present technical information in a clear and concise manner
- Advanced computer skills, experience in or the desire to work with data and data manipulation tools is essential
- Financial and cashflow modelling skills: experience modelling detailed and complex cashflows and conducting analysis using large data sets
- Analytical skills: the ability to make deductions and meaning from rather complex and abstract situations and make sound decisions from them
- Energetic, capable of initiating and nurturing relationships
- Strong collaborator
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a numerate degree accounting, economics, finance, mathematics or other STEM field is a must
- Experience and a desire to pursue a career in Banking Credit and Financial Analytics
- Basic understanding of accounting, statistics and economics
Candidates with a bank, non-bank lending platform, rating agency, financial advisory firm or investment fund background with experience in either data and portfolio analytics, cashflow modelling, banking regulatory capital or vinvestment analysis are encouraged to apply.
