Role Overview
The Head of Learning and Development will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of staff development and training across the organisation. You will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning and development initiatives that enhance employee performance, support our growth strategy, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced L&D leader to shape the learning culture within a forward-thinking private healthcare organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Learning and Development strategy aligned with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
- Lead the design and delivery of L&D programs, including leadership development, clinical training, and mandatory compliance courses.
- Ensure all staff have access to training that meets regulatory and professional standards, including CQC and other governing bodies.
- Foster a continuous learning culture through innovative and engaging learning methods, including e-learning, workshops, and on-the-job training.
- Oversee the onboarding process and induction programs to ensure a smooth transition for new employees and promote a positive experience from day one.
- Develop and manage the organisation’s learning and development budget to maximize the impact of all training initiatives.
- Use data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of L&D programs and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including HR, department heads, and clinical managers to identify training needs and implement tailored solutions.
- Champion initiatives to support leadership development and talent succession planning.
- Drive employee engagement through recognition and development opportunities that promote career growth and retention.
- Manage and lead a team of L&D professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery and professional development for team members.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior Learning and Development role within the healthcare sector, ideally in private healthcare or a similar highly regulated environment.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent in Learning and Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that meet organisational and regulatory standards.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders.
- A passion for learning and development, with the ability to drive a continuous improvement culture.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and a solid understanding of adult learning principles.
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations, including CQC standards and mandatory training requirements.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong organisational and project management skills.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
