The role
As a Functional Skills English/Maths tutor at HMP Feltham, you will play a crucial role in helping our learners develop their functional skills competencies. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons, tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of each individual learner. Your passion for education and dedication to our learners' success will make you an asset to our team. This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week over 4.5 days. Monday – Thursday 8h00 to 17h00 with a 13h00 finish on a Friday. You will be working with a maximum of 12 learners. Lessons run for approximately 3 hours am and 2h30min pm. All planning and marking are done on site within the working hours and there is not a requirement to complete any additional extra-curricular activities apart from within your working day.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality lessons inculcating ICT skills.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Assess learner needs and develop individualized learning plans.
- Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Support learners in achieving their City & Guilds qualifications.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners.
- Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in education.
The person
- A full teaching qualification and experience teaching English/ Maths courses required. However, the right candidate with appropriate experience might be considered if they are committed to completing their teaching qualification within the first year of employment.
- Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Track record of effective teaching in subject specialism
- Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
