Design Engineer – Marine

The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their team in a fantastic role focused on the design of bespoke marine components. You will play a crucial part in turning specifications into detailed designs ready for manufacture. This position is ideal for an engineer with a passion for delivering tailored engineering solutions and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. The salary for this role is circa £35,000.

The Role:

Design and develop marine shaft line components and propellers.
Create detailed designs primarily in 2D, with some 3D CAD work, under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
Establish requirements by collaborating closely with customers.
Work in conjunction with the Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.

Skills Required:

Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD is essential; SolidWorks is desirable).
Experience in providing technical solutions to design challenges.
Confidence in managing projects of varying sizes, timeframes, and complexities.
Previous experience designing components and assemblies, preferably within the marine industry.
Familiarity with design for manufacture and knowledge of production environments is beneficial.
Understanding of design codes and/or classification rules and regulations.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Strong mathematical and numerical skills.
An engineering qualification or equivalent experience.

Work Schedule:

Office-based position with working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Fridays.
Lunch break from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.
This position is not suitable for home or hybrid working.
