Position: Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: £35-50K, commensurate with experience
Nicholas Associates Engineering are representing an electrical equipment manufacturer, in their search for an Electrical Design Engineer. Our client designs and manufactures equipment used in electricity generation, transmission and distribution, as well as in the industrial automation, marine, telecoms and rail transit markets. They supply to large contractors, OEMs and end users throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
This is an excellent opportunity to support the engineering team of their load bank division. You will contribute to the design of electrical equipment for industrial applications, implementing electrical best practices, adhering to industry standards, and collaborating with the design team to create innovative solutions. You will have hands-on design experience and a solid grasp of electrical engineering principles, along with basic knowledge of mechanical design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review design requirements and produce design calculations and production documentation (resistor element and design overview sheets).
- Apply relevant design, regulatory and industry standards.
- Produce electrical wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical and corresponding component layouts.
- Review and approve design information from other team members.
- Adhere to quality systems, including using Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to document changes.
- Oversee the CE marking process on new designs including performing DFMEAs.
- Participate in research, development, and product testing as agreed with the Division Director.
- Conduct technical investigations, perform root cause analysis, and initiate corrective actions.
- Provide technical support to Production, Sales, Service, and Customer Support.
- Deliver projects on schedule and within budget, managing a complex workload efficiently.
- Identify and apply new industry-wide processes within the company.
- Perform additional duties as required.
You will have:
- Multiple year's electrical design experience, preferably some with machinery design.
- Qualified to degree level in electrical engineering.
- Knowledge and experience of designing in accordance with IEC 60204 and IEC 61439.
- Experience of the product CE marking process and DFMEA.
- A high level of competency with Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical is required.
- Experience with a CAD software package such as Autodesk Inventor, Creo, Siemens, would be advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate with the design team, other office staff and manufacturing operatives.
