Senior Production Planner
Shift Pattern 4 on 3 off (Wed -Sat)
Working Hours 9am -7pm
Location Glenfield and Barrow upon Sour
The role
Geary's is a fast-growing business and as part of this growth we are seeking a Senior Production Planner to join our team.
The role will be to support the Production Planner on shift fulfilling the daily tasks, coaching, and mentoring and being the first point of escalation within the Planning department.
The main responsibilities include:
- To produce and communicate accurate and reliable production plans.
- To download orders from customers and update production plans making any changes as necessary and communicate with third parties.
- To monitor progress against production plan ensuring we are where we think we are and communicating changes to Shift Operations Managers.
- Monitor plan adherence and complete weekly departmental KPI’s.
- To assist and support the Materials Planner who is responsible for the purchase all raw materials & packaging across both sites ensuring we have the right amount of stock at the right time.
- To ensure our basket stocks are sufficient to run production, complete the plan to always be able to manufacture and supply customer requirements.
- To ensure baskets/ pallets are collected in a cost-effective manner.
- To notify hauliers of our transport requirements for the orders received including additional information around stock availability when required to reduce driver waiting time and to support our despatch/ warehouse functions.
- Shortages/ supply Issues to be documented and communicated to customers.
- Ensure systems and supporting documents are updated with any modifications to original orders.
- To ensure we have robust processes in place that ensure effective running during weekends and holidays and people know what to do in exceptional circumstances.
- Responsible for cover planning teams holidays which will require you to be flexible to work different days and hours as required.
- Attend internal & external meetings that are relevant to your role and actively participate in these meetings and discussions.
- Ensure your team are trained on all tasks.
- Maintain training records and training matrix for your team.
- To develop your team, ensuring we can effectively manage their performance and get the best out of them.
- To lead and co-ordinate any HR tasks such as return to works, holiday approvals etc.

About You:

What we’re looking for:
- A Supply Chain background - Essential
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience managing a small team - Essential
- Have worked within a Retail / E-Commerce / FMCG environment previously - Essential.
- Have experience of Project Management / Continuous Improvement methodologies – Advantageous.
- Have experience working on Sage 200 – Advantageous
- Have good Microsoft skills – Excel - Advantageous
