Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst / Associate (Purpose-led, Plc)
North West London / Hertfordshire / Bedfordshire / Buckinghamshire area
Circa £75-90k depending on experience + Bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
We are seeking an M&A Analyst to join a high-profile team with global reach and play a key role in driving the organisation's continued growth.
About the company: Our client is a leading global, purpose-driven PLC dedicated to innovation and excellence. The company has a unique operating model and is highly acquisitive in the Small to Mid-sized business space.
The Role: As an M&A Analyst you'll spearhead strategic initiatives and lead efforts to identify and execute key acquisitions. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive growth and expand the market presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the identification and evaluation of attractive markets, industries, or niches to invest in. Perform research and provide market knowledge, customer insights and expert views. Perform “deep dives” into potential market niches.
- Support the identification, evaluation, and qualification of attractive prospective companies to acquire. These companies will hold credible positions within one of the niches identified earlier and will meet the organisation's acquisition criteria.
- Manage and update the target pipeline database tool.
- Assist with the active deal process, including niche and target identification; pre-deal financial assessment, and valuation modelling; support the management of multiple streams of due diligence activity; and support in the preparation of materials for internal approval and reporting.
- Be an integral part of the M&A team to provide input into Sector M&A Strategy, the overall Sector M&A process, and ad-hoc projects and deep dives.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience, or demonstrated interest in a financial career in M&A including transaction development and transaction execution
- Ability to conceptualize and conduct a thorough and efficient assessment of new and adjacent market niches and verticals; produce actionable market and competitive insights and recommendations to help formulate and define actionable M&A strategy.
- Very strong quantitative and analytical skills, global market knowledge, problem-solving skills, project management and influencing skills.
- Experience with DCF valuation models and financial acumen
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data
- Experience in developing business cases for investment/ M&A approval
- Experience in managing or supporting cross-functional streams preferred
- Highly collaborative work style with the ability to build strong and effective relationships with both internal and external constituents.
- Background or knowledge in one or more of the following environmental industries is preferred, such as wastewater, air quality, environmental monitoring, spectroscopy and photonics
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or similar.
