Principal Arboricultural Consultant
Location: Essex (Hybrid - office based 1 day per week)
Salary: £46,165 to £54,312 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
About Our Client
Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy providing environmental and planning services to local authorities and public bodies across the UK. They are seeking a Principal Arboricultural Consultant to co-lead their provision of arboricultural services to clients nationwide.
The Role
Working alongside another Principal Consultant, you will lead the delivery and development of arboricultural services, including specialist planning advice, highway tree management, complex arboricultural assessments and surveys, and multi-disciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex caseloads relating to specialist planning advice and trees/vegetation affecting Public Highways
- Conduct and evaluate large-scale arboricultural assessments and tree inventories
- Lead habitat management and creation projects
- Design and undertake complex arboricultural surveys
- Develop and review plans, policies and guidance
- Lead commercial development and high-value project bids
- Build and maintain high-level client relationships
- Lead team development and improve service delivery
- Manage contractors and specify management works
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with substantial post-qualification experience
- Qualified Professional Tree Inspector
- Membership of relevant professional body (e.g., M.Arbor.A, Institute of Chartered Foresters MICFor)
- Comprehensive knowledge of development management, planning policy, and legislation
- Strong commercial awareness and business development experience
- Advanced technical skills in arboricultural assessments and surveys
- Proficient in specialist software including GIS
- Experience managing high-value projects and accounts
- Valid driving license and access to vehicle (or ability to meet mobility requirements)
