- This will primarily be field based, visiting your branches but you will be able to work from home Monday & Friday.
- Salary: £56k+ DOE (car allowance, OTE to be discussed)
Reporting to one of the Regional Directors, the role of Area Manager is to be a close operational coach and leader to your 6-7 branches. Based in the south-east covering branches like Bury, Ipswich, Colchester. Also covering Essex and Kent.
Your remit it to recruit, retain and develop the best talent helping your teams understand, embed, and drive the strategy to grow our client base and nurture and enhance the partnerships we have with existing customers.
You will drive a candidate, people-led approach ensuring your branches and teams have a clear market plan and strategy with an entrepreneurial spirit underpinned by service excellence and a desire to make your people and our business better.
Leading from the front you will demonstrate best sales practice in the varied sales techniques we employ and be a champion of continuous evolution in our branches, able to sell the benefits to your team by driving engagement.
What you’ll be doing
People
- Recruit, inspire, coach, and retain staff, with a focus on supporting Branch Managers to do the same for their teams.
- Foster an inclusive, success-driven culture by understanding team motivators and creating an environment where employees can achieve personal and professional goals.
- Provide training and coaching, ensuring access to Learning & Development resources and The Adecco Group University, promoting on-the-job learning through coaching models.
- Drive continuous performance improvement through meaningful Personal Development Reviews that enhance skills, roles, and earning potential.
- Set clear performance improvement goals and support colleagues, exiting where necessary.
- Maintain an ongoing focus on talent mapping, development, and attraction.
- Build consultant communities through mentoring and buddy systems.
Sales
- Ensure the effective use of L100’s, P200, CPAs, and industry lists via dashboards, conducting quarterly health checks and desk-side coaching to improve performance.
- Manage strategy dashboards and KPIs to create an outcome-driven sales approach, focusing on sharing best practices and improving conversion and productivity in sales activities.
- Lead by example with your own client list (L30) to develop and convert prospects.
- Attend key prospect client meetings to present solutions, demonstrate best practices, and convert them into clients.
- Expand business with existing key clients by building senior stakeholder relationships and promoting the company’s ecosystem and services.
- Ensure sales and marketing plans are clear and well-executed in branches, with proper use of quality materials and collateral.
- Oversee the quality of adverts, profiles, and branch appearance (A boards, window displays).
- Promote a candidate-focused approach by monitoring utilization, redeployment, fill ratios, and showcasing best practices for success.
Market
- Monitor market trends and develop clear plans for each branch accordingly.
- Use talent insights and data (e.g., Market Tracker) to focus on the right skills, industries, and geographies for each branch.
- Build local networks and ensure a positive market presence through community initiatives like local events, PR, and marketing campaigns
- Stay adaptable to changing market conditions, taking entrepreneurial actions to maximize gross profit (GP) when necessary.
- Implement an effective pricing strategy tailored to segment, opportunity, industry, and skill to optimize margin and volume.
- Foster a consultative team culture, where teams confidently share market insights, salary guidance, and ESG/ED&I information, positioning the business as a local expert beyond recruitment.
Financial
- Oversee the overall P&L for branches, aiming to increase gross profit (GP), reduce costs, and improve GP per full-time employee (GP/FTE) and EVA Light metrics.
- Provide clear and accurate data on Temps Out, Margin, and GP (both temp and perm), while coaching Branch Managers on forecasting and branch performance.
- Ensure effective management of debt, late payment charges, and queries to minimize costs and resolve issues.
- Manage and approve pricing and payment terms, while training teams on the financial impact.
- Negotiate with clients and train staff to achieve the best business outcomes.
- Build strong business cases for cost-impacting proposals, measuring their results.
- Analyse lost business and address the causes through coaching and training.
Service & Process
- Maintain high levels of customer service to all candidates and clients
- Become an expert in Perm, upskilling, leading from the front and ensuring we take the right roles, manage the permanent process effectively, take candidates to market and control the process in all branches and teams.
- Using a show me approach to ensure all parts of the role are being done by your team in the most efficient, effective and quality way
- Maintain the integrity of the company by conforming to legislation and ensuring audit levels are adhered to
- Encourage and drive the use of technology and Connect to improve data, efficiency and service
