Role Purpose
Digital, Data and Technology are responsible for transforming and supporting all of the force's digital technology needs.
The Transformation team are responsible for overseeing and coordinating all major change
or transformation activity across the DDaT department. This includes project delivery, resource scheduling, testing and portfolio planning.

or transformation activity across the Technology Services team. This includes analysis, project delivery, resource scheduling, test engagement and planning, and portfolio planning.
The post holder must hold a good understanding of project management best practices,
and have a broad technical understanding to the Quality Assurance & Test (QAT) Analyst is responsible for assessing all of the technology requirements needed in support of new systems or system integrations, allowing a user-centric analysis of the solution needed from the technology.
As a Technical Business Analyst you be responsible for;
- Support the tracking of requirements throughout the project lifecycle and provide status updates where relevant;
- Ensure that the force’s requirements are fully understood before commencing any project or change delivery;
- Act as a point of contact for project technical requirements and provide guidance;
- Develop and enhance relationships with key business stakeholders, actively manage their expectations and monitor satisfaction levels;
- Participate in the Impact Assessment process, capturing all specialist input into any proposed initiatives;
- Facilitate DDaT input into broader force project proposals or business cases;
- Define and use templates and tools to ensure consistency across the department in scoping project deliverables;
- Working with Project Managers, to ensure that the intended benefits of the solution are clear, and that the technical analysis is capable of supporting them;
- Support the development of project proposals to ensure that the technical requirements of the solution are clearly articulated and met be the design;
- Support the QAT Senior Analyst in the appropriate testing of systems, application integrations and functional procedures as necessary;
- Record test cases in line with project plans and highlight any key issues or risks observed to the QAT Senior Analyst;
- Assist the QAT Senior Analyst with queries relating to test planning, processes and execution;
- Support and oversee the User Acceptance phase of testing
- Aid with the overall scoping of projects as needed, to inform the technical requirements from the solution as determined by the end user;
- Produce reports capturing the business requirements of any proposed change, and the technical output needed in order to realise these requirements;
- Provide input into testing conclusions as to whether or not the new design or solution meets the required stakeholder requirements;
- Capture all required testing metrics, generate relevant reports and communicate these in an accurate and timely manner;
- Design and execute test cases using standard testing techniques
- Come up with different business scenarios for a feature, working with others in the team
- Awareness of non-functional testing techniques
- Execute non-functional test scenarios and identify defects
- Run non-functional tests others have written and know the processes to do so
- Understand a range of standard non-functional testing techniques
- Identify simple patterns and trends
- Investigate problems and opportunities in existing processes, and contribute to recommending solutions
- Work with stakeholders to identify objectives and potential benefits
The successful Technical Business Analyst will have the following experience;
Essential:
- Experience in an analyst role specifying technical solution requirements
- Graduate qualification or equivalent experience
- Ability to understand customer requirements and document the ways in which those requirements could be met by the system
- Experience of COTS product delivery to business users
- Ability to manage User Acceptance Testing
- Ability to analyse, present data clearly.
- Root cause issue diagnosis
Desirable:
- Experience of liaising with development and support teams
- Experience of liaising with 3rd party suppliers
- Previous experience working in and /3rd /4th line role or otherwise hands on technical role
- Previous experience completing user testing
