The creative function is key in supporting our growth by developing product design, packaging and branding concepts to sell into both existing and prospective clients. As a brand, En Route positions itself as an innovation led company; in this respect the creative team supports the NPD (New Product Development) team and the wider sales team in bringing new product ideas to life.
The role:
- Creation & development of packaging through use of all available resources and materials.
- Creation of new and development of current brands to include art working across multiple pack formats.
- Strong understanding of the environmental impact of our industry and the opportunities within design and material choices to improve this.
- Taking initial briefs through the full design process from concept to delivery.
- Creation and application of designs to other marketing materials such as En Route stationery (e.g. business cards), brochures and adverts etc.
- 3D Design and prototyping management with suppliers.
- Managing product development projects both individually and as part of the wider team leading junior designers whilst reporting progress to the Design Manager. This will also include supplier liaison, working towards solving technical issues as part of the wider En Route team and proactively working on new materials, products and development opportunities.
- To maintain the high visual standard En Route sets and assist others in maintaining this standard.
- Creation of presentation and mock-ups to present ideas/executions for approval.
- Responsible for training, coaching & mentoring new and existing junior team members.
- Responsible for the management of the design studio including materials.
- To ensure a high standard of conduct and leadership by being a role model and setting the example for others to follow. To be flexible, with a can-do attitude, towards all aspects of the role

Support the wider Sales Team by:
- Creating bespoke presentations for larger client presentations including digital, printed and all product development.
- Attend sales meetings and present new ideas or concepts
- Take & edit product photos for presentations.
- Creating eye-catching displays for client presentations.
The person
- You will be confident dealing with clients and at ease with pitching concepts and discussing strategy while inspiring more junior members of the team with your passion and ideas.
- Your expertise will cover a multitude of design disciplines including, branding, structural card packaging, 3D design, layout and desktop publishing.
- You will already have significant packaging and brand design experience along with the supplier facing product development skills to back them up.
- You will have a portfolio that showcases original innovative concepts and a proven track record in all areas of your current role.
- You will be energetic, driven, passionate and personable. You will possess excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills as well as a deep understanding of typography, layout and colour.
- Excellent photography skills are essential. You will also be fully conversant in Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop and the usual Microsoft packages as a minimum. 3D design skills in Solidworks (with Keyshot and/or Rhino 3D with Vray) are also desirable.
- Previous experience working in a fast paced, demanding environment with a requirement to generate ideas within tight deadlines is critical.
