Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum (pro-rata based on hours,experience and qualification level)

Our client (Clegg Associates) is a very well established structural and civil engineering business providing bespoke engineering design solutions to a very varied client base.
About the role:
We are looking for a part time, office based (although some hybrid working is an option), Accounts Assistant.
Your tasks
Sales ledger

Prepare and post sales invoices to the sales ledger

Manage the sales ledger and ensure receipts are correctly allocated

Weekly reporting and chasing of overdue debt

Generate and send customer invoices and statements in line with Company procedures

Maintain and reconcile the Sales ledger within the SAGE accounting system

Deal with sales invoice enquiries
Purchase Ledger

Check and match invoices to delivery notes and sub-contractors time sheets

Process incoming purchase invoices through the ledger

Check and reconcile supplier statements
-
Deal with purchase invoice enquiries

Process and summarise staff expenses
-
Process and summarise company credit card expenses

File invoices and statements
Bank and Cash
General
-
Ongoing liaison with the Finance Director and external accountant including the provision of ad hoc information and reports as required

Supervise and monitor the company's time sheet system and ensure that work is completed to deadlines and invoiced on schedule

Prepare a monthly summary of chargeable and non-chargeable time in respect of each employee
Monthly Management Accounts

Prepare monthly schedule of accruals and prepayments

Prepare monthly salaries summary and reconcile with the PAYE and pension control accounts in SAGE

Prepare monthly journal entries to include depreciation, accruals, prepayments and salaries

Prepare a Trial Balance and produce the monthly Management Accounts together with prior year and current Business Plan comparative figures ready for discussion with the external accountant
General Administration

Liaise with the Sales and Marketing Director as required with respect to processing of job quotations ensuring all quotes are followed up and customer feedback recorded

General sales, marketing and administration duties as required including answering telephone calls and dealing with visitors to the company's premises ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures, ensuring risk assessments have been completed as appropriate.
Required skills and qualifications
Applicant must be proficient in Sage software.
Understanding of accounting procedures, i.e. nominal codes, raising credit notes, producing statements, and allocating payments
AAT level 2 Qualification would be an advantage (but not essential)
Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite
