Job Title:Principal Software Engineer

Salary:Up to £67,000 dependent on experience, plus bonus scheme
What you’ll be doing:
- Being the engineering technical lead for a software solution at a sub-system level
- Developing and maintaining software applications through all stages of the software lifecycle
- Producing software documentation, technical reports, presentations, providing software estimates, undertaking trials performance analysis and respond to customer technical queries
- Maintaining a good working knowledge of applicable software processes and standards to ensure software product quality and safety
- Keeping abreast of developments in the wider software industry and promoting and sharing new technologies across the business
Your skills and experiences:
- The ability to support the development of individuals and teams to enhance skills and competencies
- BEng/BSc in Computer Science or other relevant Engineering or Numerate subject (technology, engineering or science related discipline)
- CEng or equivalent level of capability, or working towards CEng status
- Have considerable experience of using at least one high level programming language, for real-time or multi-processor embedded software application development e.g. Ada95, C/C++, or C#
- Have considerable experience of using a high-level design methodology (e.g. UML) Knowledge of UML

The Naval Radar Software Products team:
The Naval Radar Software Products Team develop, maintain, and provide capability upgrades for the cutting-edge naval radar systems of the Royal Navy and overseas defence forces. The successful applicant will be part of our 70 strong software team, within the Product & Training Services area of BAE Systems Maritime Services, responsible for developing the software applications that drive complex naval radar systems on multiple platforms. We are looking for you to be keen to progress your career within the defence industry, and for you to constantly seek to expand and broaden your knowledge. You’ll ideally have a natural interest in the industry and be able to grasp new concepts and technologies quickly.
