Location: In Home, Altrincham WA14 4
Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:20 PM - 5:20 PM
£12- 13 per hour depending on experience
We are looking for a compassionate and understanding carer to support an energetic autistic boy during after-school hours. This role is suited to someone who can provide a safe and nurturing environment, promoting well-being, fun and independence while we work from home.
Responsibilities include:
• Welcoming him home and preparing snacks (provided).
• Engaging in preferred activities (TV, crafts, games, outdoor play).
• Using tailored strategies to promote comfort and independence.
Using the below strategies tailored to PDA, promoting a positive experience and reducing anxiety.:
• Flexible Routine: Maintain a loose structure.
• Choice Empowerment: Offer activity choices.
• Collaborative Interaction: Involve him in planning.
• Distraction Techniques: Redirect focus as needed.
• Positive Reinforcement: Encourage positive behaviour.
Qualifications:
• Experience looking after children particularly those with autism or special needs.
• Ideally suited to someone who is currently a TA or wanting to go into teaching with a lot of energy or someone at college wanting to go into a caring profession
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
Ideally with an understanding of PDA and effective strategies to support children with this profile. As long as you are caring this can be learnt.
