Job Title: Airworthiness Future Capability – Digital Engineering

Salary: £54,793 – £60,326 (Commensurate with skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
Responsible for delivering tasks in a timely, consistent and professional manner by: –
- Establishing and delivering the engineering activities aligned with the businesses Digital Engineering transformation, using systems integration & systems engineering techniques whilst engaging with Engineering teams and subject matter experts as appropriate. These will generally involve collaborating across a virtual team, influencing individuals to deliver.
- Exploitation of learning across Air and other BAE Systems Units, as well as the broader industry including regulators, customers and suppliers.
- Coordinating activities with the other leads on Digital Engineering transformation.
- Assisting/advising on the development of toolset options and toolset implementations, which support new ways of working, including participating in testing prototype tooling through case studies/use cases.
- Working alongside Engineering Teams and Regulatory Authorities to develop an optimum certification approach for new and novel technologies and ways of working.
- Identify proposals for changes to MRP Part 21 to ensure design organisation approvals reflect the Digital Engineering transformation.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Degree or HNC/HND or demonstrated experience in Airworthiness / Future Capability
- Initial Airworthiness, Certification, Requirements Engineering (DEFSTAN)
- Model-Based Systems Engineering and related techniques, processes & tools (ISO 15288)
- Exhibits positive behaviour, Integrity, Adaptability, Courage, Collaboration, Creativity
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Engineering Lifecycle and Engineering Integration
- Understanding of Safety Engineering processes, practices & tools

The Airworthiness and Product Integrity Team:
This role is within the Airworthiness & Product Integrity Digital Engineering Capability team within the Air Business within BAE Systems. The team operates across all Air products (goods and services) providing product safety, product environmental sustainability and product security engineering resource to all programmes across the business. In addition, the team delivers the independent assurance activities associated with airworthiness, product safety, product environmental sustainability and product security in a collaborative and supportive environment. This specific role will be within the Initial Airworthiness domain, working in the following areas:
- Development of the future 6th generation fighter engaging with DE&S and the MAA to ensure that airworthiness and product integrity in a digital environment is delivered safely and securely, with appropriate considerations on the impact on the environment.
- Exploitation of technological advancements in areas such as autonomy, artificial intelligence and the continued use of product integrity data linking into the digital engineering environment.
- Engaging with international working groups in the development of legislation, regulation and standards associated with digital certification, autonomy, AI, and product safety.
