Douglas House Independent Hospital, located in a community setting in South Manchester, is a Nurse led service. It is a centre of excellence for rehabilitation, treatment and the care of 12 men and women suffering from illnesses that are psychotic in nature. We support our patients to reach their full potential, working towards their personal recovery goals. Ultimately our aim is to reintroduce and maintain daily living skills, psychosocial interventions, and the necessary skills to equip people to integrate and live more independently in the community.
We are now looking for a dynamic, innovative, committed, and enthusiastic Service Manager.
Role Responsibility
You will lead the service as the Registered Manager and as a fit and proper person (as defined by the CQC). You will be responsible for the management of the team, patients and maintaining safe premises. You will guide staff from a variety of disciplines, including, Nurses, support staff, Assistant Psychologist, an OT and an Art Therapist. You will lead by example in this multi-disciplinary team. You will work to evidence-based frameworks and treatments, including adherence to NICE guidance, and all aspects of Clinical Governance.
As Service Manager you will provide effective operational / clinical leadership and management to achieve the delivery of the business objectives and meet all required regulatory requirements.
You will also be expected to manage financial expenditure against an agreed budget, ensure value for money in procurement of goods and services and contribute to local budget setting, ensuring that the service is delivered within the financial resources available.
In addition, you will direct the Clinical team to ensure that there is ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, treatment and support. This role is in essence to lead the service in all aspects from clinical, operational to administrative.

The Ideal Candidate
You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with an active NMC PIN.
You will have knowledge and a skill set of working with this patient group and clinical pathway, including those with a dual diagnosis.
Douglas House admits patients under the mental health act, therefore experience of working with detained patients will be essential.
Ideally, you will have experience of working with people with illnesses that are psychotic in nature. With at least 5 years’ experience working in a clinical environment and a demonstrable record of achieving excellence in that environment.
You will be committed to coproduction and meaningful service user involvement; you will be able to demonstrate evidence of working collaboratively on all aspect of recovery focused intervention and care, for this SU group.
Staff management will be a large part of this role, from rota management, personal staff development to dealing with HR related issues. You will need to demonstrate your ability to create a supportive and productive environment for the staff.
