This is a hands-on role for an experienced SC Cleared Infrastructure Engineer to work within a multidisciplinary delivery team. The role is focused on maintaining and improving existing on-premise services.
The objectives and outputs from the role include the following:
- Ability to support a modern on-premise infrastructure using Windows Server 2019 and Hyper-V, including the support of management tooling and client devices (Windows 10-based).
- Feed into the wider technical team any technical knowledge or experience that could assist in the hosting of new customer's software or creation of test systems using Windows OS within Hyper-V.
*This role is primarily remote, with travel across the South of the UK to client sites as required. The project team is based in Corsham with team meetings being 1-2 days per month. Additional travel, outside the agreed location could be required to perform their duties (expenses TBC).
Job Description:
The Infrastructure Engineer will be part of a small, experienced team supporting the Customer's Platform with its day-to-day live service as well as its growing demand and opportunities for project and service enhancements.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Responsible for the delivery of technical tasks as directed by the Team Lead.
- Provide 2nd-line support for all requests in scope (eg incident, access, support requests)
- Supports wider customer's engineering team (hands-on) in delivering project requirements
- Maintains and adheres to customer's operational procedures and processes. (eg patch management, change management)
- A service delivery focus (ITIL aware) that enables engagement with stakeholder service delivery teams.
In addition, the individual will be expected to:

Essential skills and experience:
- Proven experience of Physical and Windows server build and support, including Windows Server 2019 build and configuration.
- Ability to provide technical support to progress problem investigation and resolution.
- Experience with Server virtualisation, ideally using Hyper-V.
- Experience of Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server DNS (eg configuring new GPOs and amending existing ones)
- Experience of infrastructure management tooling (eg AV software, software deployment tools, patch management tools, security monitoring tooling).
- Ability to understand and follow operational procedures.
- A service delivery background that evidences experience of supporting live environments.
Desirable:
- Experience with Windows Server 2022 and Windows 10 client configuration via SCCM
- Experience of HP Proliant Server and Storage
- Knowledge and understanding of Windows server security, including implementing CIS benchmarks via GPO on to existing Servers
- Understanding and application of SSL certificate management (desktop VPN and Servers)
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting
- Working knowledge of Remedy (or other ITSM toolset), reporting software and performance monitoring systems
