About The Team
Our Enterprise Architecture team is responsible for setting the Technology Strategy, defining and advising on platform capabilities, drawing roadmaps and reference architectures as well as helping to govern against these directions.
Job Description
This is an outstanding opportunity for a confident and experienced Architect to work within HMRCs Infrastructure domain, during a time of significant change and transformation, as we focus IT delivery away from legacy technologies and fully exploit the opportunities that cloud technologies provide.
Playing a lead role in crafting and evolving technology roadmaps that will drive the adoption of modern technology, whilst pushing HMRCs hugely complex IT estate towards a smaller set of strategic systems.
As part of the Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture team, you will engage at a strategic level, influencing policy, and setting direction for technical and business change. This will ensure that HMRC develops and maintains a strong IT Architecture capability.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone with a solid Infrastructure, Cloud, and Collaboration technology background.
- To be responsible for defining our IT strategy and roadmaps for IT Infrastructure, aligning them with business strategies and capability requirements, and socialising and promoting them with senior team members.
- You will support and contribute to solution designs both as a specialist and representative of the strategic viewpoint.
- You will be involved in proof-of-concept exercises to prove new reference architecture patterns and business benefits.
- You will additionally provide internal consultancy on potential uses and appropriateness of the technologies, driving adoption of HMRCs Enterprise Infrastructure vision.
Essential Criteria
- A broad IT and Infrastructure background with experience preferably in infrastructure solutions or enterprise architecture roles where you will have gained experience of large-scale infrastructure deployments.
- Focused approach on strategic alignment of technical design and architecture to meet business growth and direction.
- Proven experience of providing internal consultancy on potential uses and appropriateness of infrastructure technologies and driving benefits from these technologies.
- A breadth of understanding of large-scale infrastructure technologies.
Desirable Criteria
- Either have or work to achieve professional IT certifications, such as TOGAF or CITP within the first 12 months of employment.
- Experience of working in an agile environment and experience with agile methodologies such as TDD, Scrum, Kanban.
- Understanding IT4IT reference architecture and value-chain approach that organisations follow to offer its digital products and services.
