Optimisation SME (Electricity System Operator)
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Optimisation SME (Electricity System Operator) to be based in their client's office in Wokingham, UK.
This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Wokingham office 3 days per week.
This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start ASAP.
Day rate: Competitive Market rate.
This is a pivotal role for Electricity System Operator balancing program and work with Business and QA and Developer to support the testing and development of the Modern Dispatch Optimisation Algorithm
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the project team and the customer team on the Dispatch algorithm as part of Balancing Transformation programs
- Support in quality assurance and development of modern optimisation algorithm
- Coordinate with different functional teams and business to review and test scenarios
- Perform the exploratory test on and find the defects and observation
- Help in the development for requirement tools and automation of testing the algorithm
Key Requirements:
- Experience solving the optimisation problem using various techniques
- Strong understanding of developing custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
- Strong understanding of mathematical programming solver available for LP, QP and MIP (MILP, MIQP, and MIQCP) problems
- Understanding of data collection, preprocessing and analysis
- Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Python, Gurobi Optimizer
- Optimisation problem solving
- Bachelor's/master's degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering or similar technical domain
