Here at GXO, we’re working together with B&Q and are looking for a Driver Mate to join our Store to Home team in Reading (RG2 0QG).
You’ll be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on an ‘Any 5 days out of 7’ pattern, contracted to 40hrs per week, with start times between 07:00 and 11:00. This role will require flexibility as you will be working on a 4 week rota pattern (provided in advance) including weekends.

As a Drivers Mate, you’ll receive:
- An hourly rate of £14.08, that is an annual salary of £29,286.40

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Work as a part of a two-person team delivering products to customer premises (room of choice) on multidrop basis – an average of 16 drops per day off peak and 24 drop per day in peak season
- Assist the delivery driver in parking and manoeuvring a company vehicle as well as loading and unloading of vehicles as and when required
- Provide effective customer service while ensuring goods are delivered in excellent condition
- Ensure that customers are kept informed of their estimated time of delivery and any issues are communicated in a polite and courteous manner
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Experience of dealing with multi drop home delivery preferred but not essential
- Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to complete manual handling tasks such as pulling, lifting, and pushing
- Can do attitude with a knack for problem solving
- Willingness to undertake pre-employment Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check)
- Be prepared to commute to Reading (RG2 0QG) for the required shift pattern
