THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPUTY HOME MANAGER ARE AS FOLLOWS:
2. Residents
a) To ensure that each service user lives in a home environment which fosters security, personal dignity and privacy.
b) To ensure that each service user has the opportunity to develop their personal skills and abilities through guidance, education and social and spiritual support to maximise their personal independence.
c) To ensure that the needs of the service users are met to a high standard through the use of individual Care Plans/risk assessments.
d) To involve the service user as fully as possible in the day to day running.
e) To work with the Home Manager to organise regular Case Reviews/medical reviews for each service user.
f) To work with the Home Manager to ensure key workers maintain personal records of service users as necessary.
g) To work with the Home Manager to ensure that investigations into safeguarding issues are conducted thoroughly and promptly and reported to the appropriate authorities.
h) To work with the multi-disciplinary team to help identify and select potential new service users.
i) To work with the Home Manager to ensure the safekeeping of medication within the home.
j) To work with the Home Manager to ensure the safe administration of medication within the Home.
3. Staffing
a) To assist in the recruitment and selection of staff, and volunteers.
b) To participate in and encourage training and personal development of staff and volunteers including but not limited to induction training.
c) To provide regular staff supervision sessions and give support to staff when required.
d) To provide support and guidance to volunteers and bank staff.
e) To conduct annual appraisals for appropriate staff.
f) To oversee the staff rotas including organisation of annual leave and use of overtime and relief staff.
g) To be responsible for day to day discipline in the absence of the Manager
h) To maintain any personnel records that may be required, including sickness, annual leave and lateness.
j) To hold and record regular staff and service user meetings when required.
4. Building
a) To ensure that the building complies with registration standards and legislation.
b) To report repairs to the appropriate person and ensure that they are carried out.
c) To ensure building is a clean and a safe environment.
d) To work with the Home Manager to ensure that the Health & Safety requirements and that relevant risk assessments are carried out and reviewed
5. Finance
To assist the Home Manager with the expenditure and cost effective use of resources.
To assist the Home Manager to oversee Petty Cash held on the premises.
To assist the Home Manager to oversee service users’ finances held on the premises.
6. Liaison
To liaise and maintain good relationships with relatives, G.Ps, Consultants, CPNs, Social Workers and other persons who have contact with the home.
7. General Duties/ Knowledge / Commitment as Deputy Home Manager
To ensure up to date knowledge and understanding of physical and functional mental illness in the elderly.
To be committed and to translate our philosophy and values of respect, choice, privacy, independence, participation, community presence and individual development into practical effect.
To also carry out any other duties as may be required from time to time by
The Operations Director or the Chief Executive.
