ROLE OVERVIEW
Senior Authorised Person to carryout operations, construction, and maintenance of the High voltage networks on various ground mount solar PV assets, Battery storage and Electric vehicle charging solutions. The Senior Authorised Person is an operational role with requirement for the person to be on site and carry out High Voltage operations as required. The works are varied and will consist of O&M, fault finding (when required) High Voltage Construction and commissioning, witnessing, and managing contractor’s work. Travelling to sites across the UK will be required with frequent overnight stays.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on High Voltage networks
- Adherence to and management of health and safety requirements at all times whilst also helping to maintain and improve safety standards across the Network.
- Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policies
- Carrying out High Voltage switching to achieve Safety from the System
- Writing High Voltage switching schedules
- Issuing Safety Documents in line with company’s Electrical Safety Rules
- Performing high voltage preventative maintenance accordingly with the PPM annual plan and completing professional reports in a timely manner
- Performing High Voltage Corrective Maintenance as occurs and completing reports in a timely manner
- Leading on High Voltage fault investigation and reporting back to manager
- Reporting of activities performed on site, upon any site visit and on a daily basis, through the D365 or manual reports as applicable
- Supervision and coordination of third-party contractors carrying out works on site
- Managing third party contractors in order to comply with H&S Regulations
- Keeping accurate and detailed records of electrical testing, High Voltage switching schedules and safety documents that are suitable for audit
- Fault finding for any High Voltage system that is not performing correctly
- Maintain data security and confidentiality by using information within the parameters of the job role, any applicable SLAs, the company data policies and / or privacy notices and the statutory guidelines set out within the GDPR and any associated UK legislation
- Act as Control Person where necessary
- Assist manager in investigations, High Voltage training and assessments for Field Service Engineer development
- Support manager in writing and approving RAMS, High Voltage reports
- Will need to travel flexibly and participate in standby Rota and attend out of hours faults as required in line with company policy
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System, compliant with ISO standards
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required Experience
- Proven experience of SAP-level High Voltage work experience, experience in solar and private networks, must have had authorisation to issue SFT, PTW
- Experience in commissioning HV switchgear, cable testing and construction works
- Experience in on site management of operational staff and contractors
Required Skills and Abilities
- HV senior authorised up to 33kV at a minimum (private network) an experienced 11kv underground DNO Senior Authorised Person will be considered. Up to 132 kV would be of added benefit
- Working knowledge of G59 and G99 relays
- Strong technical competencies
- Strong organisational abilities and ambitious approach to work
- Ability to successfully train and mentor field team
- Ability to prioritise rapidly changing tasks
- Diligent & knowledgeable approach to Health and Safety
- Able to use I.T equipment and mobile phone for reporting, working knowledge of Microsoft office, IT skills to be able to keep all High voltage reports, switching schedules and safety documents in the correct shared drives for audit purposes
Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Full UK driving licence
- Trained to Nationally recognised qualifications in HV operational works, either with a DNO or through other routes like city and guilds
- Health and Safety Management, IOSH or NEBOSH Qualification
Desirable
Holder of a 5 Day SMSTS (Site Managers Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme),
Knowledge of protection schemes and relay testing,
Knowledge of ground mounted solar installations,
Deep knowledge of Battery systems,
HND in electrical engineering,
First aid training
