Health and Safety Project Specialist
London / Flexible hybrid
3-month initial contract
£300 - £400 a day (Inside IR35) depending on experience
We are seeking a Health and Safety Project Specialist to provide expert health and safety guidance, supporting our clients project teams in establishing effective H&S measures and ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory duties, including the CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act.
Key Responsibilities:
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to CDM Regulations 2015, Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act 2024. Support the selection and training of Principal Designers.
• Risk Management: Advise project teams on identifying and mitigating design and project-related risks using best practices and the Principles of Prevention.
• Safety Planning: Develop and maintain H&S documentation such as risk registers and method statements to ensure safe work systems are in place.
• Team Support: Help establish comprehensive H&S arrangements, offering input on bids to ensure proper resourcing.
• Communication: Lead H&S meetings, briefings, and consultations to drive a safety-focused culture.
• Auditing & Assurance: Conduct audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions and compliance with "safe by design" principles.
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in delivering CDM and H&S advice, with a focus on design risk management within construction and infrastructure sectors.
- Solid industry experience and technical expertise within Construction, Built Environment, and/or Infrastructure Development.
- Familiarity with standards including ISO 45001, 14001, 9001, and BS 8670.
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or Health and Safety Management.
- Chartered professional or working towards chartered status (e.g., CMIOSH, CMaPS, or Chartered Engineer).
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and digital tools.
