Our client, a global leader in the manufacturing of soft contact lenses, is currently seeking two Maintenance Engineers to join their Engineering & Maintenance team at their site in Eastleigh. The Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment across the Packaging and Distribution sites to ensure smooth operations and minimise downtime. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in supporting production activities and ensuring all machinery is operating efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to maintenance requests, diagnosing issues, and implementing prompt solutions.
- Carrying out planned maintenance tasks and accurately recording repairs and process changes.
- Working with other engineers or contractors to resolve complex breakdowns quickly.
- Sourcing and ordering non-stock parts to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Training operators on basic maintenance tasks to ensure safe and efficient production.
- Monitoring equipment safety and providing technical support for new and ongoing projects, including equipment installations.
Requirements:
- An engineering apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering, or significant hands-on experience in a related field.
- A background in service engineering, precision engineering, toolmaking, or as an instrument engineer.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a regulated or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment, ideally within high-speed packaging.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.
Working Environment:
The role requires working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where safety is a top priority. You will need to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and be comfortable with physical tasks such as climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and handling materials governed by COSHH regulations.
