We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our Bespoke department. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial success of our projects through accurate estimating, cost analysis, and collaboration with clients and internal teams.
Position Overview:
The Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate quotations based on project specifications, engineering drawings, and client requirements. This role is vital in shaping project proposals and ensuring that all necessary resources, materials, and costs are accounted for, contributing to the financial viability of bespoke stone projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Estimation:
- Produce accurate quotations from project specifications, architectural drawings, and engineering plans.
- Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment required for projects ranging from £5k to £500k.
- Review project drawings and specifications to fully understand the scope of work and deliver a comprehensive estimate.
2. Collaboration:
- Liaise with sales representatives and clients to gather requirements and clarify project specifications.
- Work closely with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure all necessary information is gathered for precise estimates.
- Attend internal handover meetings to ensure that all agreed project details and costs are recorded and communicated effectively.
3. Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination:
- Generate inquiries and obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for tender.
- Conduct thorough comparisons of quotations received from various trades and subcontractors to ensure the best value is achieved.
4. Database Management:
- Develop and maintain databases used for sales, quoting, and cost tracking, ensuring they are updated regularly with relevant information.
- Ensure all project estimate records and related documentation are maintained accurately for reference, audit, and analysis.
5. Reporting & Analysis:
- Provide detailed breakdowns and justifications of estimates to internal stakeholders, as required.
- Assist with project reviews and post-project financial analysis to identify areas for improvement in cost management.
Ensure that all cost data and project estimates are accurate and meet the company’s financial objectives.
6. Process Improvement:
- Continuously improve estimating processes, tools, and techniques, and contribute to refining pricing strategies for bespoke projects.
- Suggest ways to enhance the efficiency of the estimation process, including the integration of new software or methodologies where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in estimating, ideally within the construction, stone, or bespoke residential sectors.
· Proficient in using estimating software packages and creating custom spreadsheets for cost monitoring and reporting.
· Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to provide insightful financial analysis.
· Experience working with 2D and 3D drawings is essential; the ability to interpret and understand complex project specifications is crucial.
· Stone industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
