Machining Inspector – Starting at £36,000 pa – Chatteris, Cambridgeshire
The Role
Are you skilled at ensuring machined products meet the highest standards? Do you have experience in machining inspection and a strong attention to detail? If so, we're looking for you to join our team as a Machining Inspector.
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting machined components to ensure they comply with exact specifications. Working within high-technology sectors, you will ensure that all products meet stringent quality standards for mission-critical applications.
This role starts at £36,000 pa and can increase on successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.
Note: Working hours would be up to 46 per week when needed, with core working hours being:
Monday-Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm with ½ hr unpaid lunch break 12.30-1.00pm
Friday 7.30am-12.30pm

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct dimensional inspections using both standard and specialised equipment:
In-process inspection.
First Article Inspection (FAI).
Final inspection.
Goods Inwards inspection.
- Verify CAD models.
- Raise defect reports.
- Use a variety of inspection tools and software, including:
Verniers, micrometres, and depth gauges.
3D scanners and probes.
Metrology software (VX Elements, Metrolog).
- Maintain familiarity with ISO9001 / ISO45001 management systems.

The Person
- Strong understanding of engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of geometrical tolerancing (BS8888 preferred).
- Competent in the use of standard measuring equipment.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Several years of experience in machining inspection.
- Familiarity with 5S and process efficiency improvements.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimisation.
- Knowledge of machining a variety of materials, such as stainless steel, carbon steel, and nickel-based alloys.
