Role Overview
As a Solicitor you will undertake work as necessary and directed on client matters providing quality legal advice and other legal servicesto the firms clients. You will also contribute to the overall profitability of the firm, with particular reference to providing efficient, cost-effective work and contributing to practice development through marketing and selling strategies in accordance with the firm'srelevant policies.
What will your day look like?
- Take instructions from clients and give legal advice, including obtaining evidence and, where appropriate, litigation, to achieve appropriate resolutions for the clients.
- Achieve time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working. Attain required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours to comply with Law Society Regulations.
- Review cases and other relevant matters with supervisor to ensure quality legal advice is provided and compliance with the firms policies and procedures. Complete the firms appraisal process with supervisor.
- Supervise, train, assist and formally appraise staff for whom the post holder is directly responsible to ensure appropriate personal development and the provision of quality legal advice.
- Attend and contribute to team/practice area meetings and comply with directions/decisions made to ensure team objectives achieved.
- Keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attend appropriate training events to ensure up to date legal knowledge and best practice.
- Participate in relevant practice development initiatives and events to promote and develop the firms practice.
- Performance appraisal: To comply with the firm's Performance Appraisal Policy and to meet all performance targets set and follow all recommendations and instructions made at appraisal interview and as set out in the appraisal interview form.
- Training: To comply with the firm's Training Policy and to attend all training events, both internally and externally, as directed by the Training Partner, Training Manager, Head of Department, Department Education Manager and/or the person to whom the post holder reports, as appropriate.
- To comply with all SRA rules and regulations presently in force and as added to or amended from time to time.
- Work outside normal office hours: To comply with all reasonable requests to work outside these hours.
- Carry out any other duties which may from time to time be required of the post holder by any partner or other senior member of the firm.
Our Candidate Requirements
Essential
- 0-4 PQE/Experience in relevant legal field
- Current Practising Certificate
- Legal Practise Course
- Any relevant professional memberships (panels; special interest groups)
- Drafting of legal documentation
- Case Preparation
- Able to work in a team and individually

- Word processing/key-board skills
