Job Title: Procurement Coordinator - Waste
Location: Head Office, Manchester, M83 - You must be able to commute / work in the office at least 4 days per week
Position Overview:
We are urgently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Coordinator with a background in construction to join our team. This critical role will focus on sourcing and managing raw materials such as brick, mortar, and other essential construction components.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the construction supply chain, with the ability to optimise costs, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure timely delivery of materials to drive efficiency and support ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimise Supplier Relationships: Review and strengthen agreements with suppliers of construction materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Source New Suppliers: Identify and evaluate new suppliers to diversify material sources and maintain a competitive edge in pricing and availability.
- Pricing and Cost Analysis: Weigh in on raw material costs, including brick, mortar, timber, and other key construction products, providing accurate pricing for tenders and project bids.
- Manage Quotation Pipeline: Oversee the procurement pipeline for materials, ensuring accurate and timely quotations to support the sales and project teams.
- Maintain Pricing Structures: Regularly update and manage pricing databases to reflect current market conditions and supplier costs.
- Monitor Supplier Performance: Continuously assess the performance of suppliers, ensuring they meet delivery, quality, and pricing targets.
- Supplier Negotiations: Assist in price negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms while maintaining strong relationships.
- Procurement Audits: Conduct desktop audits to assess supplier compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
- Improve Procurement Processes: Recommend and implement improvements in procurement practices to streamline material sourcing and reduce lead times.
- Budget Control: Work closely with the finance and project teams to manage budgets effectively, identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining material quality.
- Onboard New Suppliers: Follow established procedures to bring new suppliers on board, ensuring compliance with company standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Provide procurement support to construction project managers, site teams, and the wider supply chain team to ensure seamless material delivery.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Experience:
Proven track record in procurement, specifically within the construction sector, with experience in sourcing and pricing raw materials like brick, mortar, timber, and steel.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation, persuasion, and supplier management abilities.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple material orders and priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach to resolving material shortages and delays.
Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of construction materials and supply chain management practices.
- Familiarity with market trends in raw material pricing, including brick, mortar, and timber.
- Experience working in a construction or related industry is essential.
Qualifications:
- GCSEs in Maths and English or equivalent.
- Additional qualifications in procurement or supply chain management are desirable.
