Our Client in Newark are looking for a passionate and resilient full time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday during school term time (38 weeks per year) and 1 week INSET.
This job will require you to assist the teacher in providing an exciting and engaging curriculum, as well as supporting a small number of students with additional needs to reach their full potential. You will be encouraging a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the classroom, which will positively influence the emotional, social and academic development of the children.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of 3 months experience working in an education setting, working with students with Special Educational Needs – especially Autism (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia/dyspraxia
- Have the ability to tailor their skills to meet the needs of each individual child
- Be kind, caring and patient when dealing with children who require specialist support
- Be able to commute to Newark
Our School:
We are an independent therapeutic residential community and day school located in a small quiet village in Nottinghamshire. Our school is a beautiful historic building set in extensive grounds and our homes are purpose built and are decorated individually to reflect the residing children's tastes. We provide social care and education for children and young people aged 9 to 17 years. Children and young people who live with us and/or attend the school often have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs arising from early childhood trauma and attachment-related difficulties. Have vast experience in supporting children with specific learning needs such as; attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, autism spectrum condition (ASC), dyslexia and dyspraxia. Has an onsite multi-disciplinary team of clinical and educational psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and a school nurse. The care provision is made up of six purpose-built homes all personalised by the children living within them. Each home has a lounge, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and a choice of shower or bathrooms. Courtyard and outside spaces provide a real focus for the homes and gives a community feel allowing for the children to have an additional space that they can care for and plant life they can tend to.
