We now have exciting permanent opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified Mechanical Package Engineers to join our Technical Communities based in the South West of England. Key Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Package Engineer will lead activities in developing the Mechanical design within the project’s budget and determining timing for resource requirements. The successful candidate will serve as the liaison for inter-discipline engineering involved in the project and is accountable for overall discipline related activities for the successful completion of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Technical document surveillance and resolution of issues
- Review of contractor deliverables, non-conformances, exemptions requests, open points, and design changes
- Control and Management of the evolution of the contract and design changes
- Liaise with other teams to ensure integration of equipment with interfacing functions
- Communicate progress, risks, issues, and planning to support contract delivery
- Ensure qualification activities are progressing accordingly to the contract progress and site needs
- Technical assessment of the tenders in the aspects of design, qualification, and manufacturing
- Provide expertise for package design throughout the organisation as required
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies from original proposal/ contract by raising technical queries and/or identifying trends and changes within the framework of management of change
- Participates in factory acceptance tests, also supporting engineers as required for vendor issues
- Ensures compliance with client specifications and recommend cost effective improvements within the scope of client specifications and requirements
- Mechanical equipment study work, design, selection, and assessments
- Package follow-up work during installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning
- Evaluate and respond to technical queries and non-conformance requests
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards for supplier’s scope of work
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
- Although not immediately required, Chartership status or actively undergoing the process for attaining Chartership through a recognised international body will be highly considered when assessing candidates.
- Understanding of the EPR or general PWR design
- Knowledge and experienced in Nuclear Mechanical Equipment Design
- Understanding of Equipment interfaces (safety case, systems engineering, CDM)
- Contract management and documentary surveillance experience
- Capable of producing technical specifications, including a sound understanding of nuclear processing regulations
- Understanding of nuclear power generation, and the specialities of nuclear technology,
- Experience in the design of packages in both FEED and EPC environments,
- Appreciation of the technicalities of large nuclear projects, and the precautions that are required when designing them.
- Experience on the design/ procurement of any of the following mechanical equipment: process & pressure equipment, rotating equipment, handling equipment, gas measuring devices, liquid heating systems (including heating rods and supplying electrical cabinets), antifoaming skids, gloveboxes, fluid and waste processing systems, and pressure compliance system

In the absence of a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, significant qualifications in an Engineering field with necessary work experience
