Job Purpose
As a Learning Support Tutor, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals, including those with identified learning difficulties and disabilities, to achieve their educational goals. Your primary responsibilities involve identifying each learner's unique learning needs, delivering tailored support, and flexibly contributing to various learning programs, both government-funded and commercial.
Key Responsibilities: [The below listed tasks/responsibilities are not exhaustive:]
Learning Support Delivery:
* Provide one-on-one, group, and webinar classroom activities to facilitate learner development for Learning Support and Functional Skills
* Conduct monthly interventions to support ongoing learner progress
* Implement a pedagogical approach during all interactions with learners
* Offer pastoral support using the Learning Support Signposting Tools when needed
* Monitor and coordinate progressive learning and assessment visits according to individual learning plans
* Utilise approved learning materials, including Cognassist and company resources
* Support with the achievement of learner qualifications within allocated timescales for Functional Skill delivery, whilst always maintaining quality in delivery
Collaborative Working:
* Collaborate with Tutors to help learners achieve their potential efficiently
* Work closely with Tutors to establish a sequenced learning approach
* Support peer-to-peer training on Functional Skills delivery and standardisation activities
* Engage with employer/learner mentors to ensure learners' continuous learning progress
Compliance:
* Provide regular updates to the Learning Support Manager on learner development and progression
* Ensure adherence to ESFA funding rules, including visits and Learning Support Assessments
* Maintain clear evidence of planned and provided Learning Support, as well as its impact on learners
* Manage diaries effectively to ensure timely monthly interventions and well-planned content
* Support Tutors in addressing non-starter, non-achiever exits, and breaks in learning
Key Performance Indicators:
Operational Excellence
* Ensure learner development meets ESFA and Ofsted performance standards
* Deliver innovative approaches to drive continuous improvement and distinguish the company from competitors
Learner Retention
* Collaborate with Tutors to enhance learner engagement, retention, and progression
* Work closely with learner managers/mentors to support engagement, retention, and progression
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure all learner activity complies with ESFA funding rules and internal guidelines
* Maintain thorough documentation of learner visits, Learning Support Assessments, and teaching and assessment practices
* Meet internal and external compliance requirements and respond promptly to audit requests
Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Self-Assessment, and Resource Development
* Uphold health and safety standards during visits
* Promote equality and diversity during learner interactions
* Assist in resource development and the design of learning support and functional skills materials
Qualifications
* Teaching qualification such as a C/DET or equivalent or working towards
* Educated to at least the equivalent of a level 3 standard in Mathematics and/or English
* Degree educated within either the Business or Education industry (Desirable)
* Subject specialist qualification in Mathematics and/or English (Desirable)
* Assessor Award (Desirable)
Experience
* Demonstrated experience delivering high standards of learning and support
* Extensive experience in a teaching and assessment role delivering English, Maths and Additional Learning Support
* Experience of carrying out remote delivery of Functional Skills and Additional Learning Support
* Experience of managing the full learner journey; initial assessment, IAG, diagnostic, teaching-learning-assessment, including classroom and 1:1 delivery
* Experience of using e-portfolio systems
* Ideally, at least five years' experience of working in an education training and development environment
* Experience of using the Cognassist platform with learners
* Ideally, at least 2 years' experience in carrying out an assessment and plan of learners' additional learning needs
Knowledge & Skill
* Ability to support and motivate learners through difficult and challenging times
* Ability to support learning with the implementation of reasonable adjustments for the learner
* Excellent time management skills and ability to manage own diary
