Corporate Energy – major international law firm 2-6 PQE
Our client is an exceptional international law firm. Their market-leading Corporate Energy & Infrastructure team is consistently ranked at the top of the legal directories for energy, power and infrastructure work. They have acted on some of the most complex and high profile energy and infrastructure projects in the past ten years. They act for both financial and industry parties on M&A, other corporate transactions and complex commercial transactions, and also for project procurers, developers and lenders on the development of power/infrastructure assets.
Due to a strong and growing pipeline of work, this prestigious group are now looking for an additional high quality mid-level Associate. In this role you will handle a broad range of work within the Energy & Infrastructure sector, assisting in managing work to support optimal utilisation (ie. acting as lead lawyer, assisting lead lawyer where required, or delegating/providing feedback to juniors and communicating progress to supervisor or clients as appropriate). You’ll manage, develop, and strengthen client relationships through anticipating client needs and expectations, and support the firm and others through fostering effective internal relationships and upholding the firm’s values.
This team leads the market across:
- Infrastructure (including transport and water);
- Conventional power (including gas, nuclear, interconnectors and power networks);
- Renewable energy and storage (wind, solar, batteries, bioenergy);
- Climate & ESG;
- Oil & gas (including LNG & petrochemicals);
- New energy (hydrogen, carbon capture, biofuels); and
- Mining.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in all of the above subsectors across M&A, projects, and regulatory. The work is both domestic and international, and is drawn from a blue chip client base. The team has developed a stellar reputation for the quality of their mandates and how they deliver them.
In order to be considered for this exceptional opportunity, you will have:
- Probably between 2 and 6 years’ relevant PQE , probably gained from a highly regarded City, regional, or international firm;
- Excellent academics;
- Demonstrable experience of corporate/commercial transactions and/or projects and working with clients within the energy/power/infrastructure space;
- Ideally, experience of some or all of: private M other corporate transactions such as joint ventures; complex commercial contracts; project development; and utility sector regulation;
- Aptitude to work on large, high profile and technically complicated transactions;
- Willingness to learn and the ability to work hard;
- A common sense, down-to-earth approach;
- First rate drafting skills;
- Commerciality and the ability to work in a sometimes fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment; and
- The ability to deal with clients and colleagues in a relaxed and confident manner.
Candidates with good corporate experience but without a specific power and/or infrastructure sector background may also be of interest, though such experience would be a bonus (and an interest in working in those sectors is essential).
