My client is a leading provider of cold storage and logistics infrastructure. They have a small headquarters in London, but they operate across 8 countries with close to 700 across the broader business. They were originally set up by a large PE firm, but have recently been acquired by another PE firm to be part of a roll up. They now have a valuation of $1 billion, making them a unicorn firm. Following their acquisition, they are on an ambitious value creation journey. Hence, they are still growing...
Role:
The overall aim of this role will be to reduce operational cost across the business, and its 36 sites across the UK and Europe more broadly. You will focus solely on improving operational efficiencies, interacting heavily with the business' warehouses. You will need to travel to these sites weekly and often interact closely with the workers across the business. It will require a hands on, manual approach to process improvement.
You will also work a few days in the central headquarters in London, in a team of about 10. Here, you will report into the Operational Excellence Director, as well as working alongside the Strategy team, COO, and Revenue Management Director.
The initial focus of the Operational Excellence team will be creating and implementing a labour management system. This role will own that system and process, so will need to be able to design and refine the model in Excel, as well as roll it out manually across the sites. This may include some tech improvement/automation work too.
Requirements:
- 2-4 years of experience working in operations consulting, or a relevant space
- Experience in operational improvement/ efficiency/ logistics/ supply chain/ procurement/ manufacturing/ warehouse management - this must be hands-on/ in frontline environments
- High competency in Excel and modelling
- No industry-specific experience required, but a bonus if you have worked in industrials/ manufacturing/logistics/ food and beverage
