The Role
We are currently searching for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team working for a corporate client in the Banking Sector.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be working within the Project Commercial Team – providing commercial support to all projects from concept to final handover.
In this important role, you will assist in identifying and mitigating all commercial risks to the projects team delivery and look to maximise commercial opportunities within the projects environment.
You will be providing commercial reports to key stakeholders (both internally and to the client) and will assist in the development of budgets and proposals – to ensure value for the client while still meeting the team target on margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial support to projects from pre-delivery through to final account and handover
- Assist in identifying and mitigating commercial risks to ensure successful project delivery
- Maximise commercial opportunities within projects to increase margin output
- Prepare and present commercial reports to both internal and client stakeholders
- Support the development of budgets and proposals, ensuring value for the client while meeting margin targets
- Help secure funding for approved projects and ensure certification of project works to meet cash flow targets
- Protect and enhance contractual margin expectations during the delivery phase
- Manage the final account phase to align with client capitalisation targets
- Regularly review and assess costs against the plan to maintain effective commercial management
Experience and Qualifications
- Preferably a minimum of 3 years’ experience within the commercial environment in the building maintenance industry, preferably in banking sector / corporate environments / commercial offices.
- Prior work experience in the Facilities Management or Construction sector
- Construction experience – with knowledge of key Pre Construction procedures, eg, Procurement, Planning and Contracts.
- Experience of estimating project costs, and presenting high quality tender documents to customers
- Good IT literacy capability for software applications such as AUTOCAD, Intellect (accounts) plus full literacy with Microsoft Office suite. Incl. MS Project
- Good presentation and negotiation skills
- Ideally BSc Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management or working towards
