Martis Search are representing a West End based, but global Financial Services company to hire a “Senior Cash & Stock Reconciliations SME” to join their Investment Operations team.
The role is an initial 12-month "fixed-term contract" (FTC) and reports into their Head of Operations.
The role is for a “hands-on Senior Cash & Stock Reconciliations SME” to work as part of their Investment Operations Middle Office and be responsible for all related Cash Reconciliations.
At-the-moment the Cash Reconciliations functions are being shared with the existing Investment Operations Middle Office. However, the plan is to hire a permanent “hands-on” Cash Reconciliations to be the main person to perform the Reconciliations, but also to then spend their time in looking at way of improving the current Reconciliations processes (over time). This could mean separating Reconciliations as a new and separate sub-department away from their Investment Operations, or trying to introduce new technology and automation etc.
The chosen person must be at this level/ proven level within Cash Reconciliations gained from a reputable Investment Banking, Asset Management, or Custody background.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established, but growing West End based Institutional Asset Manager.
There is also a lot of deadline and time pressure to each project, so you need to be able to work quickly and efficiently and get all requested projects done well, accurately and on time.

About the role
The primary responsibility (c. 50%) for this role is to develop a target operating model for reconciliations at the company, including:
- Reviewing the reconciliations conducted by Investment Operations and elsewhere within the company
- Completing a scoping exercise to confirm what reconciliations should be completed and how frequently
- Investigating and recommending technology solutions to facilitation the completion of reconciliations
- Defining roles and responsibilities, including governance and oversight
- Defining resourcing requirements to support the target operating model
- Defining management information requirements
- Working with stakeholders across the company to ensure their requirements are understood and taken into account in the development of the target operating model
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct cash and share reconciliations, on a rota with members of the Portfolio Administration team (c. 25%)
- Identify and implement tactical changes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of existing reconciliations, including changes to booking practices (c.25%)
About you
- Successful candidates will have a background conducting and overseeing the completion of transactional reconciliations, as well as familiarity with different technology solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to investigate reconciliation differences, and identify the appropriate individual or team for resolution
- Expert knowledge of reconciliation systems and how they interact with other systems
- In depth technical knowledge and expertise of key product attributes across product types including applicable regulatory requirements
- Significant experience in resolving complex issues, coordinating effectively with teams across the company
- Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Ability to effectively navigate and manage conflict
- Expert ability to navigate Excel
- Ability to develop solutions and build support to improve processes across the team
- Desirable skills:
- Understanding of Portfolio Management Systems (ideally eFront), experienced in understanding complex transactions and ability to resolve discrepancies that may arise
- Ability to effectively communicate and prioritise workflow across the team based on MI and knowledge of business needs
- Candidates should be strongly motivated by the company’s development mission and ideally demonstrate some commitment to development or social goals through previous executive or non-executive activity.
Salary
£85,000 k pa - £93,600 k pa dependent upon experience, plus very good holiday allowance, a very good pension, plus Healthcare, Life Assurance etc.
