A major hedge fund, expanding its European business / office, are looking to hire a smart, ambitious, driven individual to join its growing COO function.
Joining a small, specialist team, the hire will work with senior management on a broad range of tasks - they are predominately focused on new fund / product launches, advancements into new jurisdictions & new office buildouts / geographies, albeit the role extends into broader business strategy (also covering hiring strategy to an extent across regions) and infrastructure development / buildouts across the European front, middle and back office. Liaising with / managing a wide range of third party providers can be a time consuming part of the role at times. There is also an element of initiative that comes with the remit / being reactive to high pressured situations that arise.
Whilst this is a broad, attractive role, we prefer a junior to step up - the ideal candidate will have roughly circa 5yrs relevant experience (/5-10yrs assuming it’s still a definite step up), in a business management / strategy / COO support type role. My client is only considering the highest calibre of candidates - they take academics into serious consideration in their assessment of this, including top degrees and an industry qualification such as CFA/CQF. Advanced tech skills would be particularly useful too.
Our client intends to offer the hire a 10-20% increase on his / her current base, a 50%+ bonus potential (the higher variable depends on individual and fund performance) and a fantastic benefits package that incudes a food allowance, gym membership, gold level private healthcare and a 10% pension.
