Transition Manager
Reporting to the ITSM Manager, the role is accountable for ensuring that new and modified IT services are effectively designed, transitioned, and delivered to meet business requirements.
The IT Service Design and Transition Manager plays a crucial role in managing the service design process along with managing the transition of new or modified services into the live operational environment while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
The role is responsible for the following areas:
Working with the ITSM Manager and integrating themselves across the IT teams to design, manage, operate and develop the service design and transition management IT Service Management Practices including clear process and tools that support smooth transition to delivery.
Lead the service design process, ensuring that new or modified services are designed to meet business needs, technical requirements, and operational capabilities.
Develop and maintain service design documentation, including service catalogues, service models, and supporting processes.
Minimise business risk of disruption when transitioning services from development to the live environment.
Control the lifecycle of service transition, overseeing the execution of service transition plans enabling beneficial changes to be made with minimum disruption to IT services.
Establish and ensure governance process is followed for all service design and transition management activities.
Deliver continuous service and practice improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Design/Transition Management Strategy and Development
Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to understand the organization's strategic objectives and how IT services can support and drive these goals.
Continually reviews services to ensure they align with ITIL best practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness.
Design the new service transition practice which will provide excellent transition of services to Persimmon.
Create service transition plans and agree clear SLAs for delivery.
Working with the ITSM Manager, manage, operate, develop and implement the Service Management/ITIL processes that are to be used in Group IT for service transition management.
Establish the governance to support the service transition practice ensuring that defined processes are adhered to when transitioning services from development into the live environment.
Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement new tools and the designed processes where necessary. Feed process and information into new ITSM tool where available.
Ensure that comprehensive documentation is created and maintained for all service design and transition activities.
Manage the relationships with third parties to ensure that deliverables align with organisational requirements and standards.
Continuously review and refine the transition practices and related processes to improve efficiency, minimise errors, and enhance the overall quality of service delivery.
A Level IT, BTEC in Computing or equivalent.
MCP or equivalent.
PRINCE2 would be desirable.
ITIL - V3/4 Foundation.
ITIL – V3 Intermediate (Service Design and/or Service Transition – desirable)
ITIL - V4 Practitioner (Release Management - preferred)
ITIL – Practice Manager (desirable)
ITIL - Managing Professional (desirable).
