Financial Accountant - Leeds
My client is a well-regarded international asset management group. They are currently seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant. The successful candidate will operate as part of the Group Finance team supporting the Group Financial Accountant in the preparation of monthly reports and annual financial statements.
The position reports to the Group Finance Director and is based Leeds. It is anticipated that one day a week will be spent in London.
Whilst activities will vary, the Financial Accountant will spend a significant amount of time supporting the Group Financial Accountant in the preparation of monthly reports for the Group’s management team and on submissions to the Group’s parent company. The role will also include the requirement to support in year-end activities and to prepare subsidiary financial statements. The role will have a specific responsibility for cash flow reporting and forecasting as well as administration of the Group’s banking facilities.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the work of the wider Group finance team which includes systems improvement projects and Group tax support.
The following summarises the key activities undertaken by the Group Finance Team:
Financial Reporting of Group companies:
- Includes preparation of Consolidated financial statements prepared on an IFRS basis.
- Consolidation of the Financial results for statutory reporting.
- Financial statements of centrally controlled entities, including accounts for companies in the UK, Jersey and Cyprus.
- Continuous review and documentation of group accounting policies and practices.
- Monthly review and quarterly review processes.
Preparation of Monthly and Quarterly submissions to our parent company.
Preparation of Budget and Quarterly Forecast submissions to our parent company.
Liaison with Group finance teams (Americas, UK & Europe, Middle East, India and Asia Pacific) to ensure accurate and timely delivery of high-quality financial statements:
Working with the wider finance team and IT team to improve the quality, timeliness and efficiency of financial reporting.
Requirements:
- Recognised Professional Accounting Qualification
- Strong IT skills
- The ability to review and understand financial systems and processes with a view to continuous improvement
- Good written and verbal communication skills and a professional manner
- A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude who is well-organised, diligent, proactive and enthusiastic about improvement
