Practice Group Manager - Disputes
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Group Manager to join a global law firm’s London office. The role is focused on supporting the day-to-day operations of the Disputes group and driving forward the group’s strategic initiatives in collaboration with practice leaders and the wider firm. This position is integral to the business services function and part of a growing practice management team responsible for the efficient management and strategic development of the Disputes practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with marketing, business development, and communications teams to manage external events, rankings, awards submissions, client updates, and the identification of targets.
- Oversee practice-specific data management, including tracking pitches, client outreach, and staffing.
- Support the development of strategic business goals in alignment with firm strategy and help ensure European efforts are integrated within the broader firm.
- Organize and manage regular partner and group meetings, including agenda creation and follow-up actions.
- Work with various business support departments to implement initiatives and support the group’s business strategies.
- Collaborate with the professional development and diversity teams to promote attorney development, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Manage talent across the Disputes group, working closely with HR and leadership to oversee recruiting, performance management, and attorney reviews.
- Help to develop and deliver educational trainings and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programming specific to the practice group.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and manage execution.
Skills required:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and people skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
- Leadership skills, with experience managing geographically dispersed teams and delegating tasks effectively.
- Critical thinking skills, initiative, and a proactive approach in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with data analysis and reporting or a willingness to learn.
- Bachelor’s degree required, with 5+ years of practice management or similar experience, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
Remuneration:
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to join a leading law firm in a key strategic role, working with senior leaders to drive the growth and success of the Disputes practice. The starting salary on offer for the role is £135,000- £215,000.
