Engineering Lead
JOB OVERVIEW:
To support the operations directors in the engineering delivery of their projects. These roles are key for Keltbray, and whilst you are operationally responsible to the operations directors you will have the support of the Engineering director in discharging these duties.

Summary

3. Leadership – the ability to empower and inspire others to deliver successful change initiatives.
4. Risk, opportunity, and issue management – the ability identify and monitor risks (threats and opportunities), to plan and implement responses to those risks, and respond to other issues that affect the change initiative.
5. Consolidated planning – the ability to consolidate and document the fundamental components of a change initiative: scope; schedule; resource requirements; budgets; risks; opportunities and issues; and quality requirements.
6. Governance arrangements – the ability to establish and maintain governance structures that define clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities for governance and delivery of change initiatives and align with organisational practice.
7. Clients, stakeholders, and communications management – the ability to manage stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
8. Reviews – the ability to establish and manage reviews at appropriate points, during and after change initiatives, which will inform governance of the change initiatives, by providing evaluations of progress, methodologies, and continuing relevance.
9. Change control – the ability to establish protocols to alter the scope of change initiatives, implementing the protocols when necessary, and updating configuration documentation, including contracts to develop, maintain and apply quality management processes for change initiative activities and outputs.
10. Budgeting and cost control – the ability to develop and agree budgets for change initiatives, and to control forecast and actual costs against the budget.
Role Specifics
This will involve working across multiple projects for one or more operations directors to support their project teams. The role will be responsible for:
1. Ensuring that the engineering team on the project is appropriate for the needs of the project, that the engineers within that team are supported and they are given proper development opportunities in line with their development plans.
2. Internal peer review of proposals from the site and tender teams. Understand what might drive change from tender assumptions and commercial implications of this.
3. The engineering challenges of the project are addressed to avoid them becoming operational issues – this will include the ensuring the implementation of the quality management system and that the appropriate plans are in place. It will also include a dressing the key engineering issues on the projects, this may involve expressing a different view to the operational team.
4. Being the engineering face of Keltbray when the site team need support. You will be comfortable acting as a subject matter expert. You will be comfortable dealing with client teams in a professional manner whilst being able to make the Keltbray position clear. You will be able to produce appropriate reports and documentation to support that view.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCY:
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer with ICE, IStructE or equivalent professional body.
- Professional membership of technical bodies – IDE, BGS, IET, IMMM, IExpE or similar
Relevant Experience
- 10 + years in a variety of technical roles including responsibility for design, quality and site activities.
- Experience in contracting, consulting and client teams.
