A manufacturing client of ours in the Witham area are recruiting a Buyer to join their team. This is a temporary - permanent position working Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm and paying £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:
Work with the Purchasing Manager to make process improvements to the procurement processes and implement a purchasing system.
Work with internal stakeholders to understand future requirements of the business.
Desire to look for cost savings.
Ensure all goods and services are procured through the company purchase order process.
Conduct supplier sourcing negotiations to achieve most favourable terms with regards to price, lead times, and payment terms.
Look to consolidate purchases to a smaller number of suppliers to increase leverage, and enjoy better supplier relationships.
Implement and maintain contracts of supply for goods and services to mitigate risks to disruption of the operation.
Liaise with internal functions to plan orders for stock and ensure that orders are placed with suppliers.
Liaise with logistics regarding deliveries and collections.
Ensure suppliers provide order confirmations within the required timescales and that delivery information is in accordance with product requirements.
Report potential issues with deliveries that may cause disruption.
Ensure purchase orders are passed to the warehouse team.
Maintain purchase order records placed and ensure purchase orders are available to be matched with delivery notes and invoices. Provide support to the finance team regarding invoice queries.
Liaise with the quality department to ensure quality issues are recorded correctly and resolved.
Processing data transfers at the point of ordering from suppliers.
Arranging shipments to suppliers and goods importation.
Carry out other ad hoc tasks/requests made by supervisory/managerial staff.
Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Buyer position:
5+ years purchasing and procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrate leadership skills
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Confidence to challenge stakeholders and suppliers.
Ability to build relationships among colleagues and external stakeholders.
Good IT skills, including Excel and Word.
