Legal Counsel with previous experience working on commercial contracts within procurement or supply chain functions is required by Logic Engagements to work for our global consumer goods client based in Scotland (remote with occasional days in the Glasgow or Edinburgh offices). This role will be till the end of the year initially with potential for future extensions.
The scope of the role will be to provide legal support for Global Procurement (GP) projects and global functions workstreams, including:

Legal advice to the global procurement team on legal issues and contracts including support for timely negotiation of multi-million pound contracts which typically impact multiple markets or jurisdictions

Delivery of appropriate and tailored training, know-how and templates at an appropriate frequency and level to both procurement and in-market legal teams.

Legal support on various issues relating to, for example, reputation risks, group litigation or regulatory issues related to GP as required from time.

Nominated legal support for specific project teams, sole accountability for specific procurement stakeholders.
In order to be successful for this role you will need to be able to demonstrate the following experience:

Lawyer admitted to practice in England & Wales, Scotland, Ireland or commonwealth jurisdiction, with extensive commercial in-house experience gained (minimum of 5 years’ PQE) - essential

Previous experience working on commercial supply chain / procurement contracts – essential

Previous experience working on construction or capex projects – preferred but not essential

Based in Scotland – happy to work occasional days in either Glasgow or Edinburgh offices – essential

Available to start by mid September at the latest – essential

Commercial pragmatic approach, with ability to express legal concepts in clear and practical manner

Core understanding of compliance risks, IP, antitrust, data privacy laws and knowing when and how to engage specialist SMEs

Risk – able to foresee and assess legal, reputational, operational and strategic risks, communicate such risks and enable the company to mitigate effectively such risks

Business partnership – builds strong relationships; is actively/consistently consulted by stakeholders.
