Fairmead is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our prestigious client, a renowned international construction company with over a century of experience. The client is celebrated for delivering high-quality, sustainable, and innovative projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and industrial. With a strong presence in London, they are notably leading the multi-phase development of a major residential project in the East of London.
In this role, based in East London, you will be an integral part of projects that reflect the client’s commitment to excellence, safety, and environmental responsibility. The client also prides itself on utilising advanced construction technologies to ensure that each project is completed with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of the financial and contractual side of construction projects.

Administer contracts, including managing variations, claims, and disputes, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.

Monitor and manage all financial aspects of construction projects, including cost forecasting, value engineering, and managing financial risks.

Oversee the selection and management of subcontractors, including negotiating terms, assessing performance, and managing payments.

Prepare detailed cost reports, financial statements, and progress reports for senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accuracy.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors, supporting their development and ensuring consistency in practices across the team.

Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding financial and contractual issues, ensuring their needs are met and maintaining strong relationships.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in a senior role within the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of construction processes, contract administration, and cost management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in construction-related software and advanced knowledge of Excel.

Experience working on large-scale residential or commercial projects is highly desirable.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Membership in a professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) is preferred.
