Safer Recruitment Service is part of Devon County Council's Recruitment Hub within People and Culture. Since its conception over 20 years ago, Safer Recruitment Service has established itself as a reputable and trusted advisory and DBS processing service.
It is a critical service in preventing the risk of harm to vulnerable children and adults accessing our public services by supporting safe recruitment practice.
We now have an immediate full-time Safer Recruitment Coordinator vacancy available. This is an opportunity to join the team during an exciting period of change led by the Core Principles and Behaviours, with renewed focus on efficiency, communication, and culture.
What we do
Safer Recruitment is responsible for delivering timely and accurate advice on all aspects of safer recruitment in line with current legislation and guidance. We receive a high volume of queries by email and by phone from internal and external customers.
Devon County Council is a registered umbrella body and responsible organisation with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), offering an online DBS application service for basic, standard, and enhanced level checks via the safer recruitment service. It provides this service to local authorities, schools, academies, emergency services, a variety of businesses, organisations, and charities across the UK.
Our colleagues are authorised by the Home Office to act as a DBS Countersignatory; meeting our obligations outlined in the DBS Code of Practice, assessing DBS eligibility, and ensuring DBS are submitted in accordance with legislative provisions.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive safer recruitment service, in supporting Devon County Council, partner and external organisations to conduct pre-employment checks in a timely manner to ensure that, its customers and service users are not at risk. They will support Devon County Council in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children, Young People and Adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
