Senior Payroll Officer

As part of our continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their HR team in London.
The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to manage and oversee the full payroll function for our employees across multiple cost centres. This role will involve ensuring compliance with all payroll-related regulations, partnering with internal teams, and continuously seeking ways to improve processes. The ideal candidate will bring significant payroll experience, ideally within the insurance or financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and processing of monthly payroll for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and handle related reporting (P11Ds, P45s, P60s, etc.).
- Assist in the calculation of bonuses, commissions, and other incentive plans.
- Manage employee queries related to payroll and benefits, providing clear and supportive guidance.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations, including finance journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Maintain the payroll system, ensuring all data is up to date and correct.
- Liaise with external benefits brokers and pension providers, ensuring efficient management of employee benefits.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management and the Head of HR Operations.
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll and benefits processes.
- Ensure that all payroll and benefits activities comply with legal requirements and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in payroll management, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and tax compliance.
- Proficient in payroll systems and software (experience with Workday is a plus).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
