We are seeking a Business Development Manager for a Company that supplies, installs and operates instrumentation used to monitor and manage both the UK’s clean water and wastewater networks.
Business Development Manager (Water Industry) - Role Overview

Being responsible for your own sales across a specific region – Midlands, Wales and South-West England

Travelling to visit clients e.g. Severn Trent Water

Establishing and maintaining relationships with customers

Managing and interpreting customer requirements

Calculating client quotations
-
Negotiating and closing sales by agreeing terms and conditions

Offering after-sales support services

Administering client accounts
-
Analysing costs and sales
-
Meeting regular sales targets

Co-ordinating sales projects

Supporting marketing by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events

Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product/service will meet client needs
Candidates who have previously worked in the Water Industry with a technical background will be seriously considered as the role is not a traditional sales role. The role can be thought of as a Client or Key Account Manager role. However, the ability to deal with technical issues as they arise is important.

Proven experience in a similar role in the Water Industry is essential

We are looking for candidates who have worked directly within a water company

Wastewater experience is preferred

Candidates who have technical/mechanical experience rather than sales experience will be seriously considered

The ability to build relationships with clients quickly

A full driving licence

You should be willing to travel regularly
The role would suit someone looking for a new challenge with this background. Candidates with no previous sales experience will be strongly considered if they have water industry experience (e.g. candidates who have been senior engineers or project managers within a water company).
